IN “KNEAD” OF HOLIDAY BAKING TIPS?

The holiday season is upon us! And let’s face it, holiday baking (and eating) is like a warm hug for the soul. Want to be the best baker around this season? We have put together some “can’t miss” tips for your holiday baking. Wishing everyone all the joys of the holiday season and a healthy and prosperous 2024!

Holiday Baking Tips:

  • Running out of space to cool those cookies? Use your ironing board as an oversized cooling rack. Remove the cover to expose the metal rack.
  • Soften butter quickly by cutting it into small cubes. Will be ready in about 15 minutes
  • Stock up on staples. When there’s a sale on butter, chocolate chips, or other pricey ingredients, stock up. These ingredients can be stored in the freezer to extend shelf life.
  • Use foil to keep the pie crust from burning. To prevent the crust from over-browning or burning while the filling cooks, cover the crust with foil removing it for the last 20 minutes of cooking time.
  • Make your own pumpkin spice. Combine 4 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of ground ginger, 1 teaspoon of ground cloves and ½ teaspoon of nutmeg
  • Use cookie cutters to jazz up your pie crust. Cut out the crust into shapes to form an edge or top crust. Use a bit of water to get the pieces to stick. Bake as normal
  • Use Corn syrup to get sprinkles to stay in place. After baking, brush the cookies with some warmed-up corn syrup. This keeps the sprinkles in place once the cookies cool.
  • Keep cookies soft while storing them with a slice of bread. This also works if your cookies have gotten too crispy or have dried out.
  • Use a flat bottom glass or measuring cup for perfect crumb crusts. Pressing down gives you an even layer on the bottoms and sides.
  • Use a warm knife to slice. Dip the knife into hot water and dry it. Cuts cakes and cheesecakes like butter!
  • Make homemade whipped cream with an immersion blender. Add heavy cream, a touch of confectionery sugar, and a few drops of vanilla extract to a tall container. With just a couple of pulses, you’ll have your whipped cream!
